Hey, if I don't do it, who will?

This is from a few years ago

My name is Richard Clayton Loomis III, which is way too royal sounding for a knock-about like me, so I'm called Clay. I'm male and 48 years old. I live on the central coast of California in Arroyo Grande. For those of you with no clue, A.G. is about 200 miles north of L.A. (just barely far enough).

My passions include riding my V-Max, (if you don't know what a V-Max is, you probably don't want to), shooting my guns (those that the government haven't outlawed yet), and zipping around the Pismo dunes on a Quad Runner.

I enjoy all sorts of computer fun; digitizing sounds, working at HTML, cruisin' for unique information on the Net, playing computer games, and yakkin' with friends with free long distance via Internet phones. I'm afraid that you folks stuck with Web TV are still going to have to get a computer to use most of what The Net has to offer.

Life is good on the central coast of California. No crowds, no traffic, no smog, low crime rate, and a temperate climate pretty much year round. It's hard to believe I spent 35 years in that pit known as Southern California. "Relaxed" is the word that would best describe life here.

Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket -- safe, dark, motionless, airless -- it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.
